Carson Tharp is a photo-based artist who uses digital photographic methods to portray her concepts. While experimenting with techniques that create abstraction and exaggeration, she explores the idea of what a photograph can be. She manipulates her images with techniques that intensify the subject matter. Recently, Tharp has been experimenting with photographic transfers and layering images to add interest and form to her photographic method. She wants the viewer to question, or appreciate the relationships and how they impact our lives.
Tharp, a part of the technological generation sees photography on a daily basis on social media and in the public eye. Her desire is to transcend the limits on photography as we see it. Originally from Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Carson is an emerging artist who was recently awarded her BFA from Florida Atlantic University. She lives and works in Boca Raton, Florida.
